9th GECF Executive Board Meeting

The headquarters of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) hosted, on July 13-14, 2011, delegates from 9 Member Countries for the 9th GECF Meeting of the Executive Board, the governing body of the GECF that directs the affairs of the Forum and implements the mandates of the Ministers of Energy of the organization.

This instance meets at least twice a year and this time, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Selwyn Lashley, Executive Board Member from Trinidad and Tobago, the representatives of AlgeriaEgyptIranQatarRussia and Venezuela are gathering to be informed by the Secretary General of the GECF, Mr Leonid Bokhanovskiy, about the current status in the daily work of the GECF Secretariat in Doha, in accordance with the program of Work for 2011, and on the progress of important initiatives that are being implemented for the benefit of the Forum, such as the Global Gas Model.

 

Moreover, the Members of the Executive Board, high level officers related to natural gas national companies, and energy ministries, will provide the Secretariat with instructions for the future work of the organization, particularly its support to the State of Qatar as Host Country in organizing the First Gas Summit of the Forum in Doha on November 15, 2011, the main event of this year for the GECF. This 9th Meeting of the Executive Board will continue the process of preparation for this meeting of Heads of State and Government, as well as other relevant activities of the Forum to be developed in the booming city of Doha.
