Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is an international intergovernmental organization that provides a platform for the exchange of experience and information among its Member Countries. Representing the world’s leading gas-exporting nations, the GECF aims to foster constructive dialogue between gas producers and consumers to enhance the stability and security of global gas supply and demand.

Members

Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.

Observer Members

Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mozambique, Peru, and Senegal.

Collectively, the GECF Member Countries hold 70% of the world’s proven natural gas reserves, account for 38% of marketed production, contribute 42% of global gas exports, and represent 47% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.

The GECF remains open to welcoming new members who share its principles and objectives, as outlined in the GECF Agreement and Statute.

Long-Term Strategy

The GECF Long-Term Strategy (LTS) serves as a comprehensive blueprint for a unified course of action among GECF Member Countries. It reflects their shared interests, defines vision and mission, and outlines strategic goals and priority objectives of the GECF.

This LTS acknowledges the vital role of natural gas in the global economy, addresses the dynamic changes affecting the global gas market, and identifies both the challenges and opportunities associated with the growing demand for natural gas.

The second edition of the LTS was approved at the 24th GECF Ministerial Meeting held in Cairo, Egypt, on 25 October 2022. The first edition was approved at the 19th GECF Ministerial Meeting in Moscow, Russia, on 4 October 2017.

Mission

To shape the energy future as a global advocate of natural gas and a platform for cooperation and dialogue, with the view to support the sovereign rights of Member Countries over their natural gas resources and to contribute to global sustainable development and energy security.
