Application instructions

We only review applications for positions that have been advertised. It is important to note that the GECF does not request any payment at any stage of the application and review process.

We offer a range of roles in various fields, including energy studies and research, energy economics and analysis, environmental science, gas market analysis and research, energy technology, statistics and data, PR and international relations, administration, and finance. Positions may be open to both experienced professionals and mid-level candidates, including interns.

Yes, we welcome applications from candidates globally. However, please note that most of our positions are primarily open to nationals from our member countries. That said, we do occasionally have openings for technical and general roles available to all nationalities. For each vacancy, you’ll find specific eligibility details in the job posting on our vacancy page. Each position clearly indicates whether it is open to all applicants or restricted to member country nationals. We encourage all applicants to review this information carefully before applying.

Yes, we offer internships in multiple departments, designed for students and recent graduates who meet certain criteria, such as educational background and residency requirements. You can find more details on our Internship Program page.

For positions open to member country nationals only, please refer to the following question No 5 below.

For other roles open to all nationalities, please follow the specific application instructions provided within the job posting. In most cases, you will be redirected to an external website to submit your application, or you may be given the option to send your CV directly to recruitment@gecf.org. All application details are clearly stated with each vacancy listing. Each position will have specific instructions and documents required, so please review them carefully before submitting.

If a position is open exclusively to nationals of our member countries, candidates should contact the respective Executive Board member representing their country. A list of member countries and their Executive Board contacts is available on our website. This approach ensures that your application is submitted through the appropriate national channel.

Each position has specific requirements listed in the job posting, including educational qualifications, professional experience, and technical or language skills. We encourage you to review these details carefully.

While most of our positions are technical and do require experience in the energy industry, there are some roles that do not. Prior experience in the energy sector or within an intergovernmental organisation is often advantageous and can strengthen an application. However, we encourage candidates to carefully review the requirements listed for each specific role, as some positions may not require prior energy industry experience.

After submitting your application, our recruitment team will review it. If longlisted, you will be contacted and requested to provide the required documents, verifying your academic qualifications and working experience. Consequently, if shortlisted, you may be contacted for an initial interview, followed by further assessments if needed. We’ll keep you informed at each stage of the process.

We aim to respond within approximately 2-4 weeks after the application deadline. However, the timeline may vary depending on the position and volume of applications received.

Yes, for most roles, we offer remote interviews via Webex to facilitate the process for local and international candidates. However, in-person interviews may also take place.

We recommend researching our organisation’s website, our goals and activities, and preparing examples that demonstrate your skills and experience. In addition, if you are shortlisted for an interview, our recruitment team will provide you with detailed guidelines to help you prepare. These guidelines will cover key information about the interview process and what to expect, so you can feel confident and prepared.

If you are located outside of the State of Qatar, it will require relocation as our offices are headquartered in Doha.

Yes, your family can join you and travel with you, if needed. Based on the grade and level of the position, we offer specific benefits for family members, such as assistance with visas and relocation support. The exact benefits depend on the role, but we generally provide support with relocation, including administrative formalities to ensure a smooth transition for you and your family.
