The headquarters of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) hosted, on November 11-12, 2011, delegates from 11 GECF Member Countries and 3 Observers for the 11th GECF Meeting of the Executive Board, the governing body of the GECF that directs the affairs of the Forum and implements the mandates of the Ministers of Energy of the organization.
This instance meets at least twice a year and this time, under the Chairmanship of HE Mr. Tarek El-Hadidy, Executive Board Member from Egypt, the representatives of Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela are gathering to be informed by the Secretary General of the GECF, HE Mr Leonid Bokhanovskiy, about the current status in the daily work of the GECF Secretariat in Doha, in accordance with the Program of Work for 2011, and on the program of work and budget for year 2012 to be approved by the Ministerial Meeting.
Furthermore, the Members of the Executive Board, who are high level officers related to natural gas national companies and energy ministries, will provide the Secretariat with directions for the future work of the organization, particularly the preparation of the 13th Ministerial Meeting to be held on November 13, 2011 and the support to the State of Qatar as Host Country in organizing the First Gas Summit of the Forum in Doha on November 15, 2011, the main event of this year for the GECF. This 11th Meeting of the Executive Board will coordinate the final preparation for this meeting of Heads of State and Government, as well as other relevant activities of the Forum to be developed in the flourishing city of Doha.
