The Secretary General of the GECF, HE Mr. Leonid Bokhanovskiy hosted the 15th Meeting of the Executive Board (EB) in the Headquarters of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Qatar on February 27-28, 2013.
This 15th Meeting was conducted by the Chairman of the Executive Board, Mr. Mohammed Nasser Al-Hajri, Member from the State of Qatar, who Chairs the Executive Board for 2013, and the Alternate Chairman, Mr. S.M.A. Khatibi Tabatabaei, Member from Iran. The Meeting was attended by 12 Member Countries of the organization namely: Algeria, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago,United Arab Emirates and Venezuela, as well as Observer Members Iraq, the Netherlands and Norway.
The 15th EB Meeting also received the report of the High-level Ad Hoc Group Meeting for the 2nd Gas Summit and discussed the date and time for the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting for the Summit. The High-level Ad Hoc Group for the 2nd Gas Summit was established to plan and manage preparations for the Summit. The group had its first meeting on February 26, 2013 and considered July 2013 as the month for the Summit in the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia. The motto, objectives and expected outcomes of the event, and other logistical issues related to the conference were also discussed.
The group also considered the months of April and May 2013 respectively for the 2nd and 3rd High-Level Working Group Meetings for the 2nd Gas Summit as part of continued preparations towards a successful Summit. The 2nd Gas Summit is the main activity of the GECF this year. The host country has established a number of High-level committees to plan and ensure a successful Summit.
