Member Corner
Dear Participants
Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of the GECF, welcome to the Second Data Reporting Mechanism Workshop and the warm hospitality of the City of Doha. It is our pleasure to once again host this very significant event in the Forum.
In the first Data Reporting Mechanism workshop, we laid the foundation for two things: commitment and cooperation amongst Member countries towards a Global Data Reporting Architecture.
Since then, there has been an increased awareness in managing data coordination and circulation amongst the GECF Member Countries. In this workshop we will further strengthen the milestones achieved so far and reinforce the need for such a Reporting Mechanism in the Sector.
Data is at the very heart of the GECF Objectives. Its accuracy and effective reporting is what gives us credibility and makes us the trusted Authority in gas. As we continue to promote information exchange for stable and transparent energy markets. We must remain focused in the quality of our data output.
In the last period, the GECF has had interactions and open communications with key international organizations and countries. The world is interested in what we do, especially in data reliability and accuracy, which has a global impact.
As we continue our deliberations in yet another milestone workshop towards an effective and efficient Data Reporting Mechanism, I am happy to say that we are making progress. Today, we are presenting a proposal for a Data Annual questionnaire which will help in providing the GECF Secretariat with reliable Data from the GECF Member Countries to be used for the GECF Global Gas Model and the in-house sties and market reports. We propose as well and for the first time to launch our Data Exchange Centre through the intranet of our website, and a Road map for the improvement of the GECF Data Reporting Mechanism, as well as the assessment of our monthly questionnaire amongst other relevant topics.
Your gathering here once again is a testimony to the spirit of cooperation, dialogue and information exchange that the Forum represents. I commend your commitment towards this project and your determination to succeed as a group.
Finally, let me use this opportunity to appeal to all Member Countries to show support and participate actively in this process. We can only achieve the objectives of this workshop together as a Forum.
I wish you fruitful and useful deliberations; please don’t hesitate to contact us should you require any assistance in the course of your stay.
Thank you for your time and attention
