HE Eng. Mohamed Hamel, the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), today met HE Hamidreza Dehghani, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the State of Qatar at the Iranian Embassy in Doha. The two sides examined the current state of affairs in the energy world and the opportunities and challenges they present.
Acknowledging the prominent position of Iran in the energy world, which rests on the very foundation of GECF, OPEC, and IEF, HE Hamel noted important milestones that have been achieved by the 18-member organisation on the back of active Iranian contribution.
HE Dehghani articulated Iran’s enthusiasm for participation in multilateral mechanisms with a view to enhance global cooperation on energy security and sustainable development. He shared views on ways and means to reinforce and strengthen cooperation within the framework of the GECF.
The GECF official also updated the esteemed host on the upcoming 6th GECF Summit of Heads of State and Government, which is set to take place in February 2022 in Doha, Qatar.
