High-Level Working Group on “Long-Term Strategy” meets again to review progress

22 May 2022 |

A High-Level Working Group established to renew the Long-Term Strategy (LTS) of the GECF held its second meeting on 19 May 2022, via videoconference.

The meeting was chaired by HE Ms Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Executive Board Member of Trinidad and Tobago, and attended by the representatives of eight (8) GECF Member Countries, namely Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela.

This highly-consultative process is examining many facets of a dynamic long-term strategy, such as the ongoing changes in the energy landscape, the organisation’s vision, mission, and objectives. The erstwhile LTS was for a five-year period from 2017-2022.

Opening the 2nd HLWG Meeting, GECF Secretary General HE Eng. Mohamed Hamel said that the GECF’s LTS is an important blueprint for the organisation’s progress and excellence.

Draft of the new GECF Long-Term Strategy will be presented for adoption at the 24th GECF Ministerial Meeting later this year. This will be the second GECF Long-Term Strategy.

The HLWG on LTS agreed to meet again on 21 June 2022, via videoconference.
