Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) faces a deepening clean cooking crisis, with nearly one billion people still dependent on traditional biomass in 2024. This reliance carries enormous impact ranging from adverse health impacts and lost economic productivity to environmental degradation. Amid these challenges lies compelling opportunities.
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has already proven to be a scalable, efficient, and cleaner alternative for household uses. Expanding its adoption in SSA would address public health and sustainability concerns and also unlock robust markets for energy infrastructure, distribution networks and innovative financing models.
