“The global community is in a complicated situation. The COVID-19 pandemic continues hitting our healthcare systems and economic conditions. The pace of the global economy recovery gained a strong momentum thanks to gradual vaccine deployment and fiscal stimulus. I do believe that continuous cooperation and collaboration are needed to overcome current circumstances,” HE Dr Yury Sentyurin, GECF Secretary General said whilst inaugurating the gathering and sharing the strategic imperatives.

HE Secretary General Sentyurin emphasised the need to strengthen collaboration among the GECF countries to achieve the objectives of the GRI and accomplish the primary mission of the Forum.

“Our collective commitment to the GECF community is set to facilitate technology improvement in the gas and LNG industry in the GECF countries. Therefore, we are required to strengthen our cooperation on Digital Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things and Advanced Analytics in the industry,” he outlined specifically.

HE Dr Yury Sentyurin then announced the GECF Extraordinary Executive Board Meeting’s recent decision to appoint Mr Azzedine Adjeb from Algeria as the first-ever Director of the GRI. “I’m confident that Mr Adjeb’s academic background and 31-year managerial experience in upstream, downstream, transportation and project management will enable the GRI project to reach its goals and objectives in favour of the GECF Members,” he added.

The meeting reviewed the status reports upon the ongoing projects’ implementation, assessed practical steps for their timely and efficient delivery, and discussed a number of associated matters.
