12th GECF Technical and Economic Council Meeting

01 March 2021 |

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the global platform of the leading gas producing nations, today held the 12th Meeting of the Technical and Economic Council (TEC), its specialised consultative body that oversees the Forum’s technical and economic priorities. Due to COVID-19, the meeting was held via videoconference.

The GECF Secretary General HE Yury Sentyurin opened the proceedings by welcoming the newly appointed TEC members and thanking former representatives for their valuable contribution on the Council.

The gathering witnessed an extended agenda with key topics of the status reports on the 2021 edition of the GECF Global Gas Outlook 2050, the 2021 edition of the Annual Short-Term Gas Market Report, the 2021 statistics-related deliverables, as well as updates on the study on assessment of natural gas hubs. Another important subject of amendments to the Rules and Procedures of the TEC also came under review.

Since 2015, the Technical and Economic Council has worked as a permanent specialised instrument of the GECF Secretariat and provides active and effective interaction on technical and economic matters in line with the GECF Long-Term Strategy. At the Council meetings, the Member Countries review the research work being carried out by the Secretariat and submit their recommendations on designated activities.
