The Technical and Economic Council of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) convened its third meeting of the year on Thursday, 7 September, via videoconference, with participants from all GECF Members and Observer Mozambique as a special guest.
Chaired by the Secretary General of the GECF, HE Eng. Mohamed Hamel, the meeting's agenda covered critical aspects of the global gas industry, including:
• Short-Term Gas Market Report, focusing on global economy, consumption, production, trade, storage, and energy prices.
• Presentation on Short-Term Gas Market Developments Working Papers, addressing topics such as LNG supply to Asia, currency preferences in natural gas trade, gas flaring, natural gas in the automotive sector, and the role of futures prices.
• Updates on the GECF Global Gas Outlook 2050, NOC strategies in the era of energy transitions, policies impacting natural gas demand, environmental agendas, and more.
• Discussion of proposed GECF working plans for 2024-2028 and the programme of work for 2024.
HE Hamel said: “Our collective efforts have enabled the TEC to evolve into a dynamic platform for sharing expertise and fostering cooperation among our member countries.”
