22 September 2024 |

The 17th meeting of the GECF’s Gas Research Institute Scientific Committee (GRI SC) was held on 18 September 2024, via videoconference. The meeting was attended by members and delegates from the Member Countries of Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, UAE and Venezuela. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Timmy Baksh, the representative of Trinidad and Tobago, who expressed gratitude to the GRI SC members for their commitment to progressing the GRI activities and highlighted the milestones achieved thus far.

The main items on the agenda were focused on advancing projects included in the GRI Program of Work for 2024. The GRI SC members worked collaboratively to establish three ad hoc working groups, each dedicated to important initiatives: conducting a study on flared gas recovery; designing a training program on the technical aspects of gas flaring; and organizing a workshop on tight gas development. Additionally, the GRI SC members engaged in discussions about enriching the GRI Work Program for 2025.

In conclusion, the GRI SC members expressed confidence that the implementation of the above-mentioned projects will bolster collaboration among the GECF Member Countries, while driving innovation in the gas industry and promoting sustainable development.
