43rd Executive Board Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) held its 43rd Executive Board Meeting on 27-29 September 2022 in a hybrid format.

The third Executive Board (EB) Meeting of the year 2022 welcomed the participation of Members Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. From the Observers, Iraq, Malaysia, Mozambique, and the UAE joined the proceedings. 

The meeting was held under Chairperson, Ms Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Executive Board Member from Trinidad and Tobago. The GECF Secretary General, HE Eng. Mohamed Hamel, led the Secretariat team. 

HE Hamel presented a detailed breakdown of Secretariat’s performance so far in the year and all the activities and preparations being carried out ahead of the 24th GECF Ministerial Meeting, to be held on 25 October 2022, in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt. 

“The 43rd meeting of the Executive Board is very important as we enter into the active phase of the preparations for the 24th GECF Ministerial Meeting, and as many of the documents to be submitted at that meeting shall be approved by the distinguished Board.”

The Executive Board reviewed various documents and deliverables of the GECF, including programme of work, budget, membership matters, long-term strategy, Gas Research Institute, the GECF Code of conduct, Annual Short Term Gas Market Report, Global Gas Outlook, Annual Statistical Bulletin, partnership MoUs, and vacancies, among others.

The Board decided to convene next over an Extraordinary Meeting on 23 October 2022, preceding the 24th GECF Ministerial Meeting, in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt.
