On the sidelines of African Energy Week (AEW) 2026, held in Cape Town, South Africa, H.E. Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), met with H.E. Dr El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf, Minister of Energy and Petroleum of the Republic of Senegal.
The discussions focused on developments in the global natural gas industry, shared energy priorities and the forthcoming 8th GECF Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled to take place in Moscow, Russian Federation, on 27 October 2026.
Both sides also explored opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the GECF and Senegal, reaffirming the importance of their sustained dialogue and collaboration in advancing natural gas development, energy security and sustainable economic growth.
