SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – 7 October 2026 — H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (#GECF), held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Eduardo Figueiredo Siebra, Deputy Head of the Energy and Mining Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Rafaela Siqueira Moreira, of the National Secretariat for Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Federative Republic of #Brazil, on the sidelines of the XI Energy Week and the LVI Meeting of Ministers of the Organization of Latin American Energy Development (#OLACDE) in Santo Domingo, #Dominican #Republic.
During the meeting, the GECF Secretary General commended Brazil on the development of its gas sector and discussed the tremendous potential in the region regarding natural #gas, as well as the critical need for further regional energy integration.
Dr. Mshelbila underscored the Forum's core mission to foster peer dialogue among Member Countries, champion natural gas as the cleanest fossil fuel, and advance its vital role as a reliable partner to #renewables. H.E. also noted the Forum's objective to build strong relationships with both gas producers and consuming nations, while outlining key data deliverables and flagship publications such as the Global Gas Outlook, Monthly Gas Market Report, and Annual Gas Market Report
In this context, both parties explored potential areas for cooperation between the Forum and Brazil, agreeing to continue exploring this collaboration.
