Juma Rashed Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to the State of Qatar, met with the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) HE Leonid Bokhanovskiy at the headquarters of the GECF in Doha to submit documents of accession of the UAE to the Forum on November 27, 2012.
The UAE has always had a close working relationship with the GECF and has shared its missions and objectives since its inception, with the submission of documents of accession, the UAE has now become a substantive Member Country of the GECF.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is a gathering of the world's leading gas producers and was set up as an international governmental organization with the objective to increase the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration among Member Countries. The GECF also seeks to build a mechanism for a more meaningful dialogue between gas producers and gas consumers for stability and security of supply and demand in global natural gas markets.
The Member Countries of the Forum are: Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela and the UAE. Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Iraq and Norway have the status of Observer Members.
