Doha, Qatar | 08 September 2026 — The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) convened the 3rd Meeting of the High-Level Ad-Hoc Working Group (HLAHWG) on the preparation of the 8th GECF Summit, bringing together delegations from GECF Member Countries Algeria, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, UAE and Venezuela in a hybrid format at the GECF Headquarters in Doha, Qatar.
In his welcoming remarks, H.E. Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the GECF, expressed his appreciation to the Russian Federation for its commitment to the preparations for the 8th GECF Summit, scheduled to be convened in October 2026 in Moscow. Worth mentioning that the forthcoming GECF Summit will be convened in the year of the Forum’s Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of successful cooperation among the Forum’s Member Countries.
H.E. Roman Marshavin, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the HLAHWG, presented an overview of the ongoing preparations for the Summit, including the draft Summit Declaration and related documents. The Working Group thanked the Russian Federation for the ongoing preparations and engaged in substantive exchanges of views, offering recommendations aimed at advancing the preparatory process and fostering greater convergence towards a successful and outcome-oriented 8th GECF Summit
