On 2 July 2026, H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Doha, where he was welcomed by H.E. Adish Mammadov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the State of Qatar.
During the meeting, the Secretary General reaffirmed the important role of the Republic of Azerbaijan as an Observer Country of the GECF and a valued strategic partner. He expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijan's engagement with the Forum and further underscored Azerbaijan's abundant natural gas resources, its pioneering role in the energy industry and its progress in supporting secure, reliable and sustainable energy supplies to regional and international markets
For his part, Ambassador Adish Mammadov expressed his sincere appreciation for the Secretary General's visit and reaffirmed the Republic of Azerbaijan's commitment to further strengthening cooperation with the GECF. He conveyed his country's continued support for the Forum, emphasizing Azerbaijan's efforts to deepen collaboration in pursuit of shared objectives for global energy security and sustainable development.
