On the sidelines of the International Energy Forum (IEF) Industry Advisory Council Meeting held in Bucharest, Romania, on 29 June 2026, H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), held a meeting with Eng. Jassim Alshirawi, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum (IEF).
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on recent developments in global energy markets and reaffirm the strong and longstanding partnership between the IEF and the GECF. Discussions focused on the importance of continued dialogue, knowledge sharing, and cooperation in addressing shared energy challenges and advancing efforts toward energy security, market stability and sustainable economic development.
The two Secretaries General highlighted the value of enhanced collaboration in the field of energy data exchange, recognizing the importance of accurate, reliable and timely information in supporting informed decision-making and strengthening transparency across global energy markets.
They also discussed upcoming IEF events to be held in Riyadh and explored opportunities to further expand cooperation between the two organizations through continued high-level engagement, technical collaboration and joint initiatives on areas of mutual interest. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation and advancing constructive dialogue in support of a secure, balanced and sustainable global energy future.
