On 1 June 2026, H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Faizal Razali, Ambassador of Malaysia to the State of Qatar.
During the meeting, the Secretary General reflected on Malaysia's remarkable development journey, highlighting the longstanding success of PETRONAS as one of the world's leading energy companies. He also commended Malaysia's rich cultural heritage and its prominent role in Asia, recognizing the country's enduring contributions to economic development, regional cooperation and the global energy industry.
The Ambassador noted that he closely follows the GECF's news and announcements, particularly those related to policy developments and current gas market dynamics and expressed high regard for the Forum's vision and contributions to informed dialogue on the global energy landscape.
The Secretary General further expressed his appreciation for Malaysia's continued engagement with the GECF and welcomed opportunities to deepen and diversify cooperation between the Forum and Malaysia in areas of mutual interest.
