On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026, H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), held a meeting with H.E. Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of OPEC. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on developments in global energy markets and to reaffirm the strong and longstanding partnership between the GECF and OPEC. Discussions highlighted the importance of continued dialogue, knowledge sharing and cooperation in promoting energy security, market stability and sustainable economic development. The two Secretaries General also reflected on the High-Level OPEC–GECF Annual Energy Dialogue and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening collaboration between the two organizations through regular high-level engagement, technical exchanges and joint initiatives on issues of common interest.
