Doha, Qatar | 25 May 2026 — H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), received H.E. Mr. Mohammed Jaafar Al-Sadr, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Qatar, at the GECF Secretariat headquarters in Doha. During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila reflected on the profound and distinguished history of the Republic of Iraq, highlighting its enduring civilization, rich cultural heritage, and longstanding role to global energy and energy diplomacy. H.E. Ambassador Mohammed Jaafar Al-Sadr expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts and leadership of the Secretary General, commending the GECF’s role in fostering energy dialogue, strengthening international cooperation, and advancing the strategic importance of natural gas in support of global energy security and sustainable development. On a positive note, the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed the strong and constructive relations between the GECF and the Republic of Iraq.
