GECF convened the 24th Meeting of the Technical and Economic Council

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum convened the 24th Meeting of the Technical and Economic Council (TEC) at its headquarters in Doha, Qatar, in a hybrid format, bringing together representatives and experts from GECF Member Countries to discuss key developments shaping the global natural gas industry.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the GECF, congratulated the Technical and Economic Council on the occasion of the GECF Silver Jubilee, commemorating 25 years since the establishment of the Forum, and highlighted the growing importance of natural gas in supporting energy security and reliability, amid evolving global energy dynamics. He further underscored the successful launch of the Annual Gas Market Report 2026 and the 10th edition of the Global Gas Outlook 2055, reaffirming that natural gas is not merely a bridging fuel, but an integral component of the future energy system.

The extensive agenda featured presentations and technical discussions delivered by GECF analysts, followed by interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, covering key technical and economic topics, including the impact of Middle East tensions on gas markets, LNG trade dynamics, regional gas market developments, long-term natural gas outlooks, COP30 outcomes, AI data centers and their impact on energy demand, LNG infrastructure economics, and the evolving role of natural gas in an increasingly interconnected global energy system.
