Doha, Qatar | 29 April 2026 — H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, received H.E. Hyunsoo Yun, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to the State of Qatar, for a courtesy call at the GECF Headquarters. The meeting featured constructive discussions on global energy developments, the evolving role of natural gas in the global energy mix, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the Gas Exporting Countries Forum and the Republic of South Korea. Particular emphasis was placed on exploring closer engagement through the GECF’s Dialogue Partner framework, with both sides underscoring the importance of enhanced producer-consumer cooperation in advancing energy security, market stability, and sustainable economic development. The Secretary General reaffirmed GECF’s commitment to inclusive international energy dialogue and highlighted the Forum’s ongoing efforts to expand engagement with key global energy stakeholders. The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to maintaining close communication and exploring future avenues for cooperation.
