Doha, Qatar | 28 April 2026 — H.E. Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dmitry Dogadkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the State of Qatar. Discussions focused on the forthcoming GECF Summit of Heads of State and Government to be hosted in Moscow, underscoring its significance as the highest-level gathering of the Forum, where strategic directions for natural gas cooperation are defined. The Moscow Summit is expected to address key priorities, including strengthening the role of natural gas in the global energy mix, enhancing coordination among producers and consumers, and advancing a pragmatic, stable, predictable, and investment-friendly gas market environment. In this context, Russia’s role was highlighted as central to promoting market stability, drawing on its position as one of the world’s leading gas producers and exporters, with one of the largest proven natural gas reserves. The Russian Federation has consistently supported principles that underpin stable gas markets, including long-term contracts, balanced risk-sharing, and sustained investment across the value chain, key elements reaffirmed in previous Moscow declarations of the GECF. The exchange further reaffirmed the depth of cooperation between the GECF and the Russian Federation, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing sustainable global gas market.
