Doha, Qatar | 27 April 2026 — H.E. Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Isac Mamudo Massamby, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mozambique to the State of Qatar.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the evolving and constructive relationship between the GECF and the Republic of Mozambique, an Observer to the Forum, and explored avenues to further strengthen engagement. Discussions underscored Mozambique’s growing strategic role in the global natural gas landscape, supported by its vast offshore reserves and ongoing LNG developments, as well as the importance of enhancing cooperation in market analysis, taking into consideration the current market disuptions and heightened volatility.
H.E. Dr Mshelbila reaffirmed the GECF’s readiness to support Mozambique’s efforts in advancing its gas sector, including through knowledge-sharing, technical dialogue, and participation in the Forum’s institutional platforms. In turn, H.E. Ambassador Massamby expressed appreciation for the GECF’s continued engagement and underscored Mozambique’s vision to further deepen collaboration with the Forum.
The meeting further emphasized the shared objective of leveraging natural gas as a driver of energy security, economic growth and sustainable development, both at the national and global levels. It also reflected the strong and enduring relationship between the GECF and the Republic of Mozambique, built on cooperation and a shared vision for the future of natural gas.
