Paris, France | 22 April 2026 — HE Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), met with HE Clotaire Kondja, Minister of Petroleum and Gas of Gabon, on the sidelines of the Invest in African Energy (IAE) Forum 2026. During the meeting, HE Dr Mshelbila congratulated the Minister on his appointment and briefed him on the current work of the GECF, highlighting its role in delivering data-driven reports and market insights, fostering policy dialogue, and strengthening coordination across the global gas industry, as well as the collaborative efforts of GECF Member Countries to enhance energy security, advance resource development, and promote sustainable growth. Led by HE Minister Kondja, the Gabonese delegation presented the country’s ambitious plans to develop its reserves, infrastructure and pipeline network, highlighting significant investment opportunities. HE the Secretary General Dr Mshelbila outlined key priorities for Gabon’s gas sector, including stable and investor-friendly fiscal frameworks, scalable infrastructure development and the formulation of a comprehensive Gas Master Plan to guide domestic market growth, regional integration and export. He also welcomed Gabon’s engagement with the GECF, highlighting the value of knowledge sharing across leading gas producers worldwide.
