Ashgabat, Turkmenistan | 16–17 April 2026 — H.E. Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), participated in the International Scientific-Practical Conference “Turkmenistan–People’s Republic of China: 20 Years of Strategic Cooperation in the Gas Industry” and attended the commencement ceremony of Phase IV of the Galkynysh gas field.
On the sidelines, H.E. Dr Mshelbila held exchanges with H.E. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Maksat Babayev, State Minister of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the State Concern “Turkmengas”, presenting the GECF’s current activities and prospective outlook.
The Galkynysh gas field (Phase IV) development marks a major milestone in advancing one of the world’s largest natural gas fields, with new processing facilities expected to handle around 10 billion cubic metres of gas annually, further strengthening Turkmenistan’s production capacity, export potential and long-term energy cooperation with its international partners.
