The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) participated in the 8th AIG Symposium, held on 30–31 March in Oran, Algeria, convening leading experts and stakeholders from the gas industry.
During the roundtable “Innovation, Research and Development Serving the Gas Industry,” discussions highlighted the importance of advancing R&D in natural gas, LNG, and green hydrogen to enhance competitiveness and address evolving energy market dynamics.
Mr Azzedine Adjeb, The Director of the Gas Research Institute (GRI), representing the GECF, underscored the role of innovation and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, in optimizing operations and supporting decision-making. He also presented the GRI as the Forum’s technological hub, fostering cooperation, innovation, and knowledge exchange among Member Countries.
The session witnessed strong and dynamic engagement, with participants expressing particular interest in the GRI’s role as a scientific and technological platform supporting the priorities of the GECF. Discussions were notably rich and constructive, reflecting a growing recognition of the Institute’s added value in advancing innovation, fostering collaboration, and strengthening research capabilities across the gas sector.
