Cairo, Egypt | 31 March 2026 — EGYPES2026. On the sidelines of EGYPES 2026, HE Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), held a bilateral meeting with Mr Rashid Ali Abdallah, Executive Director of the African Energy Commission (AFREC).
HE Dr Philip Mshelbila expressed his appreciation to AFREC for its longstanding cooperation and close engagement with the GECF, recalling a number of joint statements and activities, including regular technical meetings, knowledge-sharing workshops on oil and gas, as well as continued and successful collaboration across international platforms.
This exchange focused on advancing cooperation in energy data and statistics, recognizing their role in shaping informed and resilient energy policies across the African continent. Discussions also addressed supply and demand dynamics. Building on this foundation, the meeting further explored avenues for enhancing Africa’s domestic, regional and global role in natural gas.
