GECF Secretary General Participates in EGYPES 2026 Opening Ceremony in Cairo

Egypt, Cairo | 30 March - 01 April 2026 - The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) participated in the opening of Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026), held in Cairo under the gracious auspices of HE Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in the presence of HE Dr Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, and HE Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, alongside high-level international leaders and global energy stakeholders.

Egypt’s leadership welcomed the convening of EGYPES 2026 and emphasized the importance of sustained international energy cooperation and advancing integration, particularly in natural gas, through strengthened partnerships.

Representing the GECF, HE Dr Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General, engaged in discussions reaffirming the growing role of natural gas as a cornerstone of energy security. The opening underscored the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation to ensure stable energy dynamics, particularly amid evolving geopolitical challenges impacting energy markets and supply chains. In this context, emphasis was placed on strengthening partnerships, enhancing production, and advancing investments across the gas value chain.
