At the Al Attiyah Foundation CEO Roundtable on Global Energy Dynamics: Forces Shaping the Industry, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) participated in the discussions on the evolving energy landscape. Dr Abubakar Abbas, Senior Energy Forecast Analyst, highlighted the continued expansion of global energy demand amid uncertainty, positioning natural gas as a key pillar of system resilience and a strategic complement to renewables. The intervention also underscored Africa’s persistent energy access challenges and low per-capita energy consumption, emphasising the role of natural gas in advancing energy access, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, and contributing to climate change mitigation across Africa and globally.
