16th Meeting of the GECF Special Envoys for Data and Statistics (SEDAS) concluded in Doha

The 16th Meeting of the GECF Special Envoys for Data & Statistics (SEDAS) brought together experts from the Member Countries to exchange insights on data-sharing frameworks, enhance statistical outputs and explore the growing role of artificial intelligence in data analytics in the energy sector.

The participants reviewed the Data Exchange Mechanism (DEM) and engaged in training session with in-depth introduction to the Data Exchange Centre (DEC) system covering essential topics of data input protocols, quality control standards and conversion factors. 

In his remarks, HE Eng. Mohamed Hamel, Secretary General of the GECF, announced the commenced availability of the DEC system to Observer Members underscoring the GECF commitment to inclusivity, transparency and collaborative growth. He also informed about the establishment of a SEDAS Annual Award to recognize outstanding efforts in collecting data to enrich the GECF data bank. 

SEDAS is a specialized body consisting of the nominated representatives of the Member Countries established to provide for sustainable functioning of the DEM by gathering, consolidating, processing, and analysing data used in the elaboration of in-house studies, reports and publications.
