The Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), H.E. Dr. Philip Mshelbila, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Hon. Gaudentia Kröhne, Deputy Minister of Industrialization, Mines and Energy of the Republic of Namibia, on the sidelines of the Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) 2026.
The meeting focused on Namibia’s emerging role in the global energy landscape, particularly in the context of recent offshore discoveries and the country’s long-term energy development strategy. Discussions underscored the potential role of natural gas, supporting industrialisation, power generation, and economic diversification.
The GECF Secretary General outlined the Forum’s mandate and activities, highlighting opportunities for dialogue, technical cooperation, and engagement with emerging gas-producing countries. Both sides expressed interest in maintaining close communication and exploring practical avenues for cooperation as Namibia advances its energy ambitions.
