DOHA - Gas Exporting Countries (GECF) Secretary General Dr. Yury Sentyurin was acknowledged as the recipient of the newly introduced ‘Lifetime Achievement Award for the Advancement of GECF', which is part of the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Energy Awards.
The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development is a non-profit organization - building on the legacy of HE Al-Attiyah - and was established for the benefit of the energy industry with a focus on humanity, climate change and sustainable development.
The Al-Attiyah Awards are a special honor created by the foundation to recognize individuals for their achievements in the global energy industry. The nominees are evaluated in four areas: impact, innovation, long-term vision, and leadership.
An international selection committee votes on the nominees and are then invited to reward personally reward the candidates for their accomplishments.
The recognition of incumbent Secretary General Dr Sentyurin as a recipient of this prestigious award confirms the importance of the GECF on the world stage and reaffirms the progress made by the entire GECF team over the past decade of its existence. Part of this success is due to the great support received at the Forum's estblishment from His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and HE Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry at that time and currently chairman of the Al-Attiyah Foundation.
Dr. Sentyurin expressed his profound gratitude to the foundation, the government of the State of Qatar, all the members of the GECF family and anyone who made a contribution, however small, to shape the face of the organization.
He also stressed, that recognizing the essential role of Natural Gas as a clean and reliable
energy source for sustainable development and in achieving the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals, the GECF seeks to influence the future shaping processes, striving for enhancing energy security and natural gas markets stability through active participation in
the local and international community. Acknowledgment of such a privilege Award explicably
showcases, that the Forum gains increasing interest and recognition.
