HE S.M. Adeli, Secretary General, GECF visited HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
During the meeting, the Secretary General informed His Highness the Emir of his plans and activities to promote the GECF as a credible international platform for gas, through organizing a number of activities including monthly interactive lectures with stakeholders in the energy sector and engaging with consumers and businesses.
The Secretary General also informed His Highness the Emir of the Forum’s interactions with various international organizations in the energy sector including the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Energy Forum (IEF) on data exchange initiatives as well as the Forum’s preparatory activities for the upcoming 2014 G20 Leaders' Summit in Australia. The Secretary General also sought the views of His Highness on the GECF high level dialogue with consumer countries.
On his part, HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, conveyed the support of the State of Qatar to the plans and activities of the GECF, and encouraged the Forum to go ahead with high-level dialogue with consumer countries as well as to extend invitation to new countries to grow its membership.
