The GECF took part in two strategic panels at the Libya–Africa International Gas Forum 2025 in Tripoli

GECF Senior Energy Forecast Analyst Dr. Abubakar Abbas outlined Libya’s long-term positioning within Africa’s and Europe’s future gas supply outlook in a panel titled “Gas Infrastructure & Future Investment Requirements”. He emphasized the importance of strengthening gas processing, transmission, and power generation infrastructure to unlock new production, enhance domestic utilisation, and reinforce Libya’s role in regional energy security.

GECF Senior Gas Market Analyst Mr. Rafik Amara highlighted the growing significance of African and Libyan gas in meeting European and Asian demand in a panel titled “Gas Exports – Routes, Markets & Strategic Position for African Gas”. He underscored Libya’s strategic proximity, competitive resource base, and existing export corridors as key advantages for expanding export potential. He also noted that sustained investment and stable supply frameworks will be essential to fully capture emerging market opportunities.
