The GECF Secretary General extends warmest congratulations to H.E. Saad Bin Sherida Al Kaabi

 Doha, Qatar

On the occasion of the trust bestowed by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, The Amir of the State of Qatar the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, the Secretary General H.E. Dr. Yury Sentyurin extends his warmest congratulations to H.E. Saad Bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Member of the Cabinet, on his new appointment.

H.E. Secretary General emphasizes, that at a time of positive developments in the energy sector in Qatar and globally this appointment offers a chance to contribute greatly toward the further growth of Qatar's energy market. Dr. Sentyurin especially stresses and appreciates Qatar's tremendous contributions as a founding Member Country of the GECF and host of its Headquarters, and expresses his hopes to continue cooperation towards the common benefit. 

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Secretary General re-invites H.E. Saad Bin Sherida Al Kaabi to participate in the upcoming 20th GECF Ministerial Meeting, to be held on November 14, 2018 in Trinidad and Tobago, which will kick-off the GECF's 10th  Anniversary celebrations.

H.E. Saad Bin Sherida Al Kaabi Profile

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Petroleum and Chairman of Qatargas

Joined QP in 1986 as a student of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at Pennsylvania State University (PENN STATE) in the US.

In 1991 he received a Bachelor of Engineering in Petroleum and Natural Gas from PENN STATE.

Immediately after graduating he joined the Qatar Petroleum Development and Reservoir Development Department, where he held many technical and supervisory posts until he assumed the duties of Director of North Field Development. 

His played a leading role in the development of many of the world's most advanced gas technologies, which have been implemented in record time, effectively contributing to Qatar's leading position as the capital of the LNG industry and the gas conversion industry. 

From 2006 until this appointment,  he was the Director of Petroleum and Gas Projects at Qatar Petroleum and was responsible for the management and development of oil and gas resources in the State of Qatar. His duties included overseeing all activities of developing the North Field gas, Exploration in the state.
