Secretary General participates in 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum
HE Dr Yury Sentyurin, GECF Secretary General participated in the Panel Discussion “Future of Natural Gas” at the sidelines of 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, Russia on 5th October, 2018.
The Panel Discussion was also attended by Mr. Pavel Sorokin, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation; Mr. Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee, Gazprom; Mr. Andrea Gerini, Secretary General, NGVA Europe; Ms. Valerie Ducrot, Executive Director, Global Gas Centre; Mr. Pierre Vergerio, Member of the Board, Eurogas, Executive Vice President Gas Midstream, Energy Management & Optimization, EDISON S.p.A.; Mr. Mel Ydreos, Director of Public Affairs, International Gas Union; Mr. Roland Roesch, Deputy Director of the Innovation and Technology Center of the International Renewable Energy Agency as well as experts in the gas industry.
The Panel’s participants discussed the role of natural gas in the future energy mix as an economic, secure, flexible and environmentally friendly source of energy. They noted the important contribution that natural gas can make, particularly in the context of the recent climate and sustainable development agenda. During the Panel Discussion, HE Dr Yury Sentyurin presented the view of the GECF on future natural gas markets and highlighted the importance of multilateral dialogue between consumers and producers to unlock the full potential of natural gas as the fuel of choice.
