Launch of the Power of Siberia Gas Pipeline - Congratulations to the Russian Federation

Gas Exporting Countries Forum praises launch of the major natural gas pipeline from the Russian Federation's energy rich Siberia region to China yesterday.

Being a founding Member Country and a viable shareholder of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Russia has an extensive portfolio as regards to the natural gas industry. As per the new 2019 edition of the GECF Annual Statistical Bulletin, based on the primary source data from the GECF Member Countries, Russia holds a volume exceeding 47.5 trillion cubic metres of natural gas proved reserves. The country is the 2nd largest producer of natural gas in the world with a marketed production of more than 700 billion cubic metres (Bcm) in 2018.

The outstanding in scope Power of Siberia gas pipeline has begun delivering gas after yesterday's official launching by HE Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, and his Chinese counterpart HE Xi Jinping. 

GECF hails this milestone development, and extends sincere congratulations to its Member Country the Russian Federation on occasion of launching of the “gas route” between the world's largest exporter and one of the world's largest consumers.
