Iranian Deputy Minister of Petroleum visits GECF
Mr. Amir Hossein Zamaninia, Deputy Minister of Petroleum for International Affairs and Trading of Iran paid a courtesy call on HE Dr. Yury Sentyurin, GECF Secretary General on the 29th August, 2018 at the headquarters of the Forum in Doha, Qatar. The Deputy Minister was accompanied by HE Mohammad Ali Sobhani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the State of Qatar and top dignitaries from the Ministry of Petroleum and Iranian Embassy in the Qatar.
During the meeting, both parties discussed a number of issues relevant to the development of the GECF. The Deputy Minister was also given an overview of the GECF Global Gas Model and the GECF Global Gas Outlook 2040, and had interactions with the technical departments.
Iran is the founding Member of Gas Exporting Countries Forum and ranks the first in the world in terms of natural gas reserves and third in terms of oil reserves. Iran also ranks second in terms of production and export in OPEC.
Apart from oil and natural gas, the country’s other natural resources include coal, chromium, copper, iron ore, lead, manganese, zinc and sulphur.
