GECF outlines its new long-term strategy, building on natural gas’ importance today and in the future
The GECF is pleased to publish its new Long-Term Strategy (LTS), following its approval at the 24th GECF Ministerial Meeting in Cairo, Egypt on 25 October 2022.
Following a five-yearly review, the second edition of the GECF LTS responds to the multi-faceted changes affecting the global energy landscape, and the role of natural gas today and in the future.
Reflecting the importance of natural gas to the world’s socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, and the protection of the environment, the new vision of the GECF aspires “to make natural gas the pivotal resource for inclusive and sustainable development”.
Furthermore, the GECF mission is set “to shape the energy future as a global advocate of natural gas and a platform for cooperation and dialogue, with the view to support the sovereign rights of member countries over their natural gas resources and to contribute to global sustainable development and energy security.”
The previous LTS came into effect in 2017.
