GECF held Extraordinary Executive Board meeting and Workshop on Data and Statistics in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago

In preparation of the 20th GECF Ministerial meeting in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on November 14th, the GECF Executive Board held an Extraordinary Board meeting to finalize the proceedings of the event.
In parallel, the "GECF Workshop on Data & Statistics: Data Exchange Mechanism" took place.
“The GECF Workshop on Data and Statistics”, a gathering for experts of Member Countries that aims to facilitate cooperation and collaboration among GECF Member countries through the exchange of experiences, views and information; was a successful and enriching event. The workshop was attended by more than 20 participants from different offices of the Ministry of Energy and Trinidad and Tobago based companies.
The meeting was the first time the Secretariat delivered a workshop in a Member Country, and the first positive result of the cooperation between GECF and the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE). OLADE’s Executive Secretary, HE Mr. Alfonso Blanco Bonilla, not only participated in the event but also presented.
The GECF was represented by Mr. Mohamed Arafat, Databank Analyst and main instructor, and Dr. Roberto Arenas Lara, Head of Data and the Information Services Department. From Trinidad and Tobago’s side, Ms. Nandita Maharaj, Special Envoy for Data and Statistics, contributed to the event by introducing the data collection process of the country.
During the workshop participants discussed the processes of data gathering, processing, enhancement, and the expansion of data collection. In addition, the suggested improvements of the GECF Data Exchange Center (DEC) System were considered.
The workshops in GECF Member Countries is a practice that will continue throughout 2019.
