GECF event to explore role of technology in realising a carbon neutral world on 8 July

 Doha, Qatar

Technology is considered to be a driver of advancement in modern life. Its role in transforming another crucial element to humanity’s progress – energy – will be explored in a workshop organised by the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) on Thursday 8 July at 2:00 p.m. Doha time.

The virtual event, entitled ‘The pivotal role of technology in energy transition towards carbon neutrality’, will draw from the expert views and work of several speakers, including HE Yury Sentyurin, Secretary General of GECF, Mr Ashok Belani, Executive Vice President of Schlumberger New Energy, Mr Dmitry Sokolov, Head, and Mr Seyed Mohsen Razavi, Energy Technology Analyst, both from the GECF Secretariat’s Energy Economics and Forecasting Department.

The workshop falls under the ambit of the GECF’s Environmental Knowledge and Solutions initiative and aims to address how technologies in the supply sector, such as natural gas, and hydrogen, and renewables are inevitable to achieve a carbon neutral energy system. It endeavours to further lead the discussion and exchange views on fundamental energy technology issues by presenting the experience of Schlumberger, a leading global energy services and equipment provider.

The event will further present some of the efforts, studies, and scenarios developed in-house at the GECF, as well as share best practices, acquire knowledge, and bring solutions on addressing the most pressing issues marring the crossroad of energy and the environment.

Access to the event is via registration which can be made here. The event is open to the public.
