Energy Ministers of Russia and Qatar urged gas producing countries to join GECF
At a panel session of Russian Energy Week, HE Mr Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, offered countries involved in the global gas market to become members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
“I would like to remind you that Russian President Vladimir Putin once initiated the establishment of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. We support this organization and support new members’ enlistment, as well as countries which are now Observers to step up their participation and become full-fledged members of the GECF,” said HE Mr Alexander Novak.
HE Mr Alexander Novak also addressed the ministers present at the panel session, and encouraged them to consider GECF Membership. "There are a lot of ministers representing their countries here today, and I urge you to join the organization. In our opinion, all gas producers and exporters, as well as other active players, should join—as the goals and objectives that the GECF endeavors to pursue are of tantamount importance for reliable gas supply at the global level.”
This proposal was supported by the Minister of Energy and Industry of the State of Qatar, HE Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada.
