9th GECF Technical & Economic Council
HE Secretary General Dr. Yury Sentyurin chaired the 9th Meeting of the GECF Technical & Economic Council (TEC) at the Secretariat of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha on the sidelines of the Forum’s 34th Executive Board Meeting.
The meeting was attended by TEC representatives from Algeria, Bolivia, Iran, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and Norway.
As per practice, the session covered the presentation and consideration of the Forum’s key deliverables - such as the GECF Global Gas outlook (2019 edition), the GECF Statistical Bulletins and the annual Short-Term Gas Market Report, as well other matters of importance to the Forum.
Among these topics were the GECF Environmental Actions Framework; a report on ‘LNG Trade Flows in the Case of Oversupplied Markets and its Consequent Impact on Prices’; the GECF Technology Roadmap Study; a progress report on the study on the ‘Assessment of Natural Gas Hubs, Associated Risk Management Instrument and Potential Future Developments’; and an Assessment on ‘Inter-fuel competition of oil and coal with natural gas on an energy-equivalent basis’.
The TEC is a permanent specialized instrument of the GECF Secretariat, to provide a framework for active and effective interaction and discussion on technical and economic matters in line with the GECF Long Term Strategy; to share the views of MC on these activities, and review relevant research work undertaken by the Secretariat as required by the GECF’s Governing Bodies.
