34th GECF Executive Board Meeting
The 34th Executive Board (EB) meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum took place in Doha, Qatar on July 16-17, under chairmanship of Mr. Carlos Torrico Borja, EB Member from Bolivia. The meeting was attended by the distinguished EB members of Algeria, Bolivia, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Observer countries Norway and Peru, and the GECF Secretary General (SG) Dr. Yury P. Sentyurin.
In addition to reports on the Short Term Gas Market, the GECF Global Gas Outlook (2019 edition) and the GECF Statistical Bulletin, the EB reviewed the management report of the Chairman of the Executive Board and the Secretary General; the Secretariat’s proposed budget and Program of Work for 2020; the status report of the study on the assessment of Natural Gas Hubs ; matters concerning the establishment of the GECF Gas Research Institute (GRI) in Algeria and various other legal, financial and administrative matters concerning the Forum.
The date and location of the next Executive Board Meeting and the 21st Ministerial Meeting were also determined.
The EB is a governing body of the GECF tasked with - among other duties - directing the management of the affairs of the Forum; implementing the decisions of the Ministerial Meetings; and approving the program of work of the Secretariat, in accordance with the Statute of the GECF.
