10th GECF Technical and Economic Council Meeting Held via Webinar
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the global voice of the leading gas producing nations, today held the 10th meeting of the Technical and Economic Council (TEC), a special working body of the GECF Secretariat that pores over the technical and economic realities of the gas markets.
The meeting, held virtually due to the COVID-19, was opened by the GECF Secretary General HE Yury Sentyurin. It was attended by representatives of the GECF Member Countries.
During the meeting, the TEC members discussed the Forum’s key deliverables, notably the 2020 edition of the GECF Global Gas Outlook 2050, updates on studies ‘GECF Technology Roadmap’ and ‘Assessment of Natural Gas Hubs’, and outcome of workshops ‘Environmental Advantages of Natural Gas’; held on the sidelines of COP25 in Madrid last year and ‘Promotion of Natural Gas Demand’; held annually by the GECF.
Launched in 2015, the Technical and Economic Council is a permanent specialised instrument of the GECF Secretariat and works to provide active and effective interaction and discussion on technical and economic matters in line with the GECF Long Term Strategy; to share the views of Member Countries on these activities, and review relevant research work undertaken by the Secretariat as required by the GECF’s Governing Bodies.
